Welcome to the BRAVE Youth Lab! Led by Dr. Ryan Herringa, the UW Department of Psychiatry is conducting a research study examining brain function and other biological changes in youth with Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) compared to healthy youth.  We hope that the information gained from the study will one day allow us to improve the detection and treatment of post-traumatic stress in youth.

Formerly known as the Youth PTSD Study, this research takes place at the HealthEmotions Research Institute on the near-west side of Madison, Wisconsin, and involves three visits.  The first visit is an interview and questionnaires about health and mood, and also practicing with the MRI Simulator.  In the second visit, your child will undergo an MRI brain scan while he/she rests and plays some simple games. In the third visit, your child will play some more games on a computer. At this time, initial recruitment has closed, but the study is still running follow up participants.
